Brainpop - 

  • Target audience: Grades 3-8

  • Topic: Numerous Language Arts topics
  • Description: Brain Pops English is a site that has short video clips with quizzes that explore a multitude of English topics.  The site is a “paid for” site, but worth it! The English part of the site has four major grouping, Grammar, Writing, Study & Reading Skills, and Famous Authors & Books. If you subscribe to the site you can not only use the English aspect but seven other aspects as well, Science, Social Studies, Math, Arts & Music, Health and Technology

Web English Teacher -

  • Topic: Numerous Language Arts topics
  • Description: Web English Teacher is a site that contains links to other sites dealing with a plethora of English topics.  The site contains a list of topics down the right side of the main page.  Topics include, but are not limited to, the following: Grammar, Journalism, Media, Mythology, Poetry, Professional Resources, Reading/Literacy, Shakespeare, Speech, Study Guides, Vocabulary, Writing, and Young Adult Literature.

Writer's Window -

  • Target audience: Grades K-12
  • Content area: English
  • Type: General and Special Education
  • Topic: Reading and Writing Description: Writer’s Window is a site that let’s kids talk to other kids about books that they are reading.  It has a “reader’s café” that the kids can enter and browse through different areas.  The main page has six different categories which are as follows: share your writing, read published writing, continuous stories, discussion board, writers’ workshop, and about writers’ window.

Guide to Grammar and Writing -

  • Content area: English

  • Topic: Grammar
  • Description: Guide to Grammar and Writing has definitions and examples of the different aspects of grammar.  It also has some good PowerPoint presentations dealing with numerous parts of speech and grammar.

Dr. Goodword's Word Wizard Club -

  •   Target audience: Grades 2-7
  • Content area: English
  • Type: General and Special Education
  • Topic: Vocabulary and Spelling
  • Description: Dr. Goodword’s word wizard club has numerous games and puzzles to help students improve their vocabulary and spelling.  It also has a teacher resources page that lets you print out the puzzles.
