Nose Clip from Columbia (900-1500 AD)

This facial ornament, which clips onto the septum of the nose and hangs just above the mouth, was most likely used to adorn a person laid to rest for burial.  It would have been among many precious objects signifying the elevated status of the deceased as he or she traveled through the spiritual realm after death.  It is made from gold.
