Text Box: Made by Gorham Manufacturing Co. in Providence, Rhode Island in 1899. The name Martelé is a French word meaning hammered. They are made out of hand-wrought silver.
 
The light bulb had only been around for about 10 years so these candelabra could have been used for lighting or decoration depending on how advanced in technology the family was who owned them.
