Text Box: Ring in the Form of a Snake from Greece (3rd century BC)
Text Box: This ring probably had a funerary function, as the serpent symbolized rebirth in Greek culture. If the ring were worn in everyday life before being placed in the tomb, it would have been especially ostentatious because the wearer would not have been able to bend his or her finger. This ring is made out of gold.
