Technology Skills

Word - This tutorial was created as a Word document using screen capture and Paint. Using this tutorial, students will explore the Eiffel Tower's official web site and create a report using Word. A biography was created using Word that contained pictures, graphics, clip art, text formatting, columns, dropped text or borders.

Technology Integration

Word Integration Lesson Plan -In the lesson, "La Vie de Ma Famille" students will create a newsletter using Word that incorporates pictures, graphics, clip art, text formatting, columns, dropped text or borders. The students will present their family newsletters to the class at the end of the unit. Here is a student example of the family newsletter.

Desktop Publishing (DTP) - Each member of the ITEC 501 class created a biography using Word. The biographies were then converted to PDF files and compiled in a binder. The binder included an index with bookmarks along with all the biographies. Here is a copy of my biography that was created for the binder.

Desktop Publishing Integration Lesson Plan - In the lesson, "A Visit to France: Exploring the Regions of France" students will research a region of France and create a travel poster for their assigned region. The travel posters will be converted to PDF files and compiled into a binder. The students will present their travel posters to the class. Here is a student example of a travel poster.

Excel - A spreadsheet displaying class grades was created using Excel. A chart was created using the data from the spreadsheet. A Word document was created that contained an explanation of the spreadsheet and chart, as well as a copy and pasted version of the spreadsheet and chart.

Excel Integration Lesson Plan - In the lesson, "How Many People are There?: Exploring the Population of France" students will create a spreadsheet and chart using Excel that shows the population of France based on the latest census data. Here is a student example of the spreadsheet and chart.

PowerPoint - A PowerPoint presentation that included multiple slides, sounds, fixed elements, action buttons, a United Streaming video clip, animation, different fonts and styles, and a interactive quiz was created on the Algerian War.

PowerPoint Integration Lesson Plan - In the lesson, "Historical Figures of France" students will research and create a PowerPoint on a historical figure of France. Students will present their PowerPoint to the class. Here is a student example of the PowerPoint presentation.

Access - A database was created using Access. The database contained two tables (class mailing list and class roster). A query and report were created using the information from the tables in the data base.

Access Integration Lesson Plan - In the lesson, "C'est Ton Anniversaire! (It's Your Birthday!)" students will create a database using Access that includes all the names of all the students in the class and their birthdates. Students will include a table, query and report. After the database is created, students will send birthday greetings to each other. Here is a student example of a birthday greeting.

Telecommunications - a Word document was created that included a summary of the required readings, an edited portion of the group's online chat with my contributions highlighted, and a conclusion about the chat experience. Here is a copy of our group's chat transcript. Telecommunications Integration Lesson Plan - In the lesson, "Les Correspondants Français" students will write and respond to a French pen pal using email and online chat sessions. The students will have the opportunity to learn about the French culture and what growing up is like for French teenagers, as well as practicing their French. The students will share what they learn from their correspondant with the class. Here is a student example of an online chat transcript with a French student.
