Technology Integration

  •  Word - A tutorial that instructs students how to find the weather forecast on the Internet with the use of the Print Screen feature.

  •  Word - A quiz that assess student's ability to identify shapes with the use of drop down fields.

  •  A Lesson plan that introduces students to the format of an informal letter.  The students will be asked to type a letter discussing activities at school.  It will allow students to learn about alignment, fonts, and spacing.

  •  Desktop Publishing - a binder that includes all my  classmates' biographies and pictures.  Here is my own biography and picture.

  •  Desktop Publishing - This is an assignment from one of my other courses at CGPS.  We also had to turn in our philosophy of education, but were encouraged to be creative.  I designed mine in the format of a menu.

  •   Mirroring the binder created in my own class, I have created a lesson plan using Desktop Publishing to create a booklet for my students.  The students will be assigned to create a brochure about themselves as a way of introducing themselves to their classmates.  At the end of this activity, they will all be printed out and stored in the classroom.  Here is an example of my own brochure.

  •  Excel - As a teacher it is important to keep a record of all things given and received by parents and students.  Excel makes it easy to set up charts and diagrams specifically for this purpose.  Therefore, I have created a worksheet in Excel that records which papers have been returned to school.  I have also converted this table into a Word document as well.

  •  In this Excel lesson plan, I am focusing on mathematical skills.  The students will create a worksheet that will ask how many of each member (sisters, grandparents, etc.) are in their immediate family.  They will first attempt to add this by themselves.  Then, they will be taught how to use the SUM formula in Excel to check their answers.  Another activity will also ask them to compare totals and use subtraction formulas as well.  I have included a handout that will be given to the students which incorporates Print screen as an aide.

  •  Power Point - This slideshow incorporates many teaching platforms.  There are bulleted slides used for a lecture, pictures for clarification, animation and sound effects for maintaining the students' attention, a video, and a quiz for assessment.

  •  My Power Point lesson plan involves researching online as well as creating a slide show.  The students will be given a specific website to do research on their favorite animal.  They will be asked to use different slide layouts to display their information and insert pictures.  Here is an example of what one may look like.

  •  Access - This database builds upon my Excel worksheet above.  I imported my worksheet into Access and created a table.  While the presentation is the same, Access allows me to create reports and queries on certain objects from the table.

  •  Instead of doing a lesson plan with Access, I decided to write a reflection paper after doing completing own skill document.  In this paper, I discuss my experience with it as well as an integration activity I could mold into a lesson plan for my students concerning characteristics of living things.

  •  Telecommunications - Instead of meeting in class, for one session, we had an online discussion using Tapped in.  To prepare for this discussion, we read a few articles on Donald Schon's description of reflective practitioners.  Here is an edited version of this transcript which is a showcase of my contributions to this topic.

  •  Telecommunications - Throughout the semester, Blackboard was widely used to communicate between classmates about questions about assignments, ideas for lesson plans, and the general use of technology.  Here are some of my comments I have made throughout the semester pertaining to certain assignments.

  •  For my integration lesson plan, I ask my students to become pen pals with another student from a foreign  country using Epals.  Both my class and the other will have a shared reading assignment to complete.  The pen pals will discuss elements of the story and their reactions to it by using both email and handwritten letters.  This will lead into a discussion into how their culture affects their interpretation of the material and will hopefully spark a deep interest in each other's cultural differences.
